- <p> Who is white-hot and cool and double platinum all over?
- Answer: an upstart from Miami whose album To the Extreme has
- sold an astonishing 2.5 million copies in seven weeks. A hit
- in black-dominated rap, Vanilla Ice insists on keeping his real
- moniker to himself. Says he: "I'm from the street--that's why
- I don't give out my name." Four years ago, he was part of a
- violent neighborhood gang. After a stabbing that nearly cost
- him his life, he changed his ways. "I don't sound like anybody
- else," he says. "I have my own style, called `above ground.'
- There's no cursing, but I get my point across."
